The Emotional Pulse of the World

How does the world make you feel?

For Delphi Economic Forum XI, we wanted to create a different kind of audience activation — one that would move beyond opinions and, for the first time, capture how people actually feel about the forces shaping the world today.

We created The Emotional Pulse of the World, a dedicated digital experience inviting audiences to respond to a series of questions connected to some of the most relevant global issues of the moment and to the Forum’s core thematic pillars.

Rather than asking participants what they thought, we asked them to identify the emotions each topic triggered. A shared set of core emotions — including optimism, pessimism, curiosity and concern — was complemented by more contextual responses tailored to each subject.

Each emotion was then translated into a distinct color system, inspired by principles of color psychology, turning individual responses into a visual language.

The result was a series of eight visual compositions capturing the collective emotional pulse of the audience. Not designed to be read as percentages or traditional data visualisations, but to be experienced more intuitively — as visual interpretations of how people feel about the world at a specific moment in time.
